Founded the Center for Teaching Quality(CTQ), a national nonprofit organization based in Carrboro, North Carolina. Created in 1999, CTQ connects, readies, and mobilizes teachers so they can transform their profession in best interest of students. In 2003, CTQ launched the nation's first virtual network of teacher leaders, and now, the CTQ Collaboratory supports almost 12000 teachers, who have unique opportunities to lead boldly without leaving the classroom.
I a former classroom teacher, think tank analyst, a senior state education agency bureaucratic, and university professor. Have published bunch of scholarly and practical papers on matters related to accountability, school reform, and the teaching profession. Check out our bold vision for the profession's future in our first book, TEACHING 2030 (Teachers College Press, 2011) – penned with 12 fabulous classroom teachers — of whom many joined Teaching Partners. My second book, Teacherpreneurs: Innovative Teachers Who Lead but Don't Leave, was published by Jossey-Bass in August 2013.
