Katherine Smith

Biography
Katherine serves as a 2nd grade teacher at Chime Institute. She has worked at Chime as a special educator in grades K-5 for the past 5 years. Katherine holds a B.A. in Political Science, an MM Educational Specialist Credential and an M.A. in special education from CSUN. Katherine Smith believes that she can best serve her community in the classroom, facilitating the development of children’s social/emotional and academic skills. She holds educational leadership positions in reading intervention, behavioral support and inclusive education, utilizing co-teaching, UDL and project-based learning practices. She believes educators hold the key to healing and transforming educational policy and practice. Outside the classroom, Katherine is working with teachers across the country to unite, celebrate and elevate teacher voice.
