Ryan Kinser is an Instructional Technologist at The Out of Door Academy (ODA) in Sarasota, Florida. He also teaches high school English online at Florida Virtual School (FLVS). Ryan helps teachers personalize learning by bridging educational technology and innovative teaching practices. He started the FLVS Design Lab, an online design-thinking space for students, teachers, and parents. The lab tackles real-world challenges through a process modeled after Stanford’s d.School and IDEO’s Educator’s Toolkit. As a former district-level teacher of the year and advisor to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Center for Teaching Quality, the Teaching Channel, and Hillsborough County, Florida, Ryan advocates for hybrid teaching roles called Teacherpreneurs, which encourage teacher leaders to advance their profession without completely leaving the classroom. His primary interests are online learning, teacher professional development, and STEM education. Ryan is a Google-certified Teacher, MIT Master Trainer in Educational Mobile Computing, and a 2016 PBS Learning Media Digital Innovator.
