Sophia Faridi currently teaches 11th and 12th grade English and Journalism at J. Sterling Morton East High School in Cicero, Illinois. She earned a BA in Communications from the University of Illinois at Chicago as well as an M.Ed. in Educational Psychology from Florida Atlantic University. Since 2011, she has been actively engaged in a variety of education policy organizations. She has served as a teaching fellow for America Achieves, Student Achievement Partners, as well as on the Teacher Advisory Council for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. She was named two years in a row as one of Florida’s 40 most effective teachers by then Governor Jeb Bush. She also had the opportunity to work on the Raise the Bar campaign developing the newly released RTB Common Core Library.
