Creating meaningful relationships by connecting with students on a personal level.

Grades 9-12

In this series of videos, I introduce my strategies for forging personal relationships with each student. This knowledge helps me and my students work collaboratively in an open, trusting environment based on empathy and respect.

Part One: Introduction

In part one of the workshop, I describe the importance of forging personal relationships with students to foster a collaborative classroom.

Part Two: Assessing Attitudes

In part two of the workshop, I demonstrate “improvingclassattitudes,” an iPad application designed to enable students to register their moods as they enter the classroom.

Part Three: Getting to Know You

In part three of the workshop, I describe the many small things I do to get to know students including asking them to name a new element that is based on how they see themselves.
