Grades 6-8, Grades 9-12

In this series of videos, I introduce participants to punctuation formulas – a strategy that uses math-based concepts that take the form of fun activities and games to help students learn and retain the often complex rules of grammar.

Part One: Introduction

In part one of the workshop, I introduce the strategy of using punctuation formulas. These are math-based systems that help students understand and retain the rules of grammar.

Part Two: Using Grammar Formulas

In part two of the workshop, I ask participants to write sentences about different topics using a grammar formula.

Part Three: Grammar Games!

In part three of the workshop, participants use Quizlet Live, an app that allows students to share knowledge and compete in teams. Then I teach them how to play a punctuation game called “Punctuation Pizzaz.”
