Grades 9-12

In these videos I engage journalism students in a robust discussion of the First Amendment. Using hypothetical scenarios, we work through the rights, responsibilities, and ethical challenges of news reporting.

The First Amendment

In this video, students debate what can be published and contrast that with what should be published under different circumstances.

Socratic Questioning and Redirection

In this video, I facilitate a discussion based on a hypothetical scenario. I use Socratic questioning to establish the foundational arguments, then redirect students to challenge their own reasoning.

Examining Right and Wrong

In this video, I introduce scenarios that could have a direct impact on students including the use of social media and the First Amendment rights of students at school.
