Dana Boyd is currently the principal at East Point Elementary in El Paso, Texas. Before becoming an administrator she taught first, second and third grade. In 2007 she had the honor of being named Texas Teacher of the Year. Dana could be described as an out of the box leader who pushes her staff to do what they think they can’t do. She is a constant believer in the philosophy of a professional learning community at her campus and instills the culture of a “family” at the school. Her biggest push is building teachers as leaders at her campus. “I am constantly letting my staff know that they are part of the decisions at the campus and it’s not about me, it’s about US.” You will often find her speaking with parents, faculty, and most importantly the students at her campus. It is her goal to make an impact on every person that comes across her path because she wants to be a little part of their happiness for that day, but more importantly, part of the success in their future. She is and will continue to be a lifelong learner.
